Same goal, very different paths

Recently, I was thinking about two of my neighbours—both seniors, both with the same daily goal: get their steps in.

But the way they go about it couldn’t be more different.

One of them walks up and down the parking lot every day.

Back and forth.
Zigzagging.
Eyes mostly on the ground.
Surrounded by high walls.
He rarely looks up.

I’ve asked him a few times why he doesn’t walk in the neighborhood. It’s beautiful—tree-lined streets, mountain views, and the occasional glimpse of the ocean in the distance.

But he always says, “I got used to this during the pandemic. I can’t be bothered now.”

Maybe he’s afraid.
Maybe it just feels safer to stay close.

And then there’s the other neighbour.

He drives to the beach every morning.

When I see him returning, he’s smiling—sand between his toes, wind in his hair, talking about the sea air and how alive he feels after his walk.

He chooses different beaches.
He welcomes the variety.
He seeks the view.

Same goal.
Same neighborhood.
Completely different experience.

It got me thinking:

✨How much of what we do is shaped by what we believe is possible?

This isn’t about steps.
It’s about vision.

Leadership starts with the small decisions we make every day—especially the ones no one else sees.

It begins with how we choose to show up for ourselves, what we allow ourselves to imagine, and what kind of life we believe we’re allowed to have.

One man walks between the walls.
The other walks toward the expansive horizon.

And so I ask you:

✨Where might you be zigzagging through comfort, when your soul is calling you to the sea?

Here’s to walking with vision, leading ourselves first and choosing the view,

✨🌊✨
